Ilya A. Kosten

Ilya Kosten joined Barbanel & Treuer, P.C. after 23 years of successfully representing major insurer clients at other Los Angeles firms.  He is a member of the highly regarded and selective Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel and has been consistently recognized as one of Southern California’s Super Lawyers.  Ilya’s practice is focused on complex coverage-related disputes arising in connection with environmental contamination and toxic torts, construction defects, general liability, automobile and property losses, and professional liability claims.  Ilya has also represented insurers in prosecuting premium collections and insurance fraud.  His non-insurer clients include companies in the medical, manufacturing, construction, and automotive industries.  Ilya expertly represents clients from initial consultation through trial and appeal, where necessary, as well as in alternative dispute resolution.  Together with Alan Barbanel, Ilya is the national coordinating counsel for insurer clients defending the surge of Covid-19 business interruption coverage lawsuits.
