Photo of Stephen Cope STEPHEN L. COPE initially worked for the attorneys that formed B&T as a law student and then as a young associate in the 1990s. After several years of practice as a commercial litigator and insurance coverage attorney with other firms, Mr. Cope returned to B&T as Counsel in 2009. Over the years, Mr. Cope's diverse practice has included complex commercial litigation on behalf of large international corporations, defense of religious organizations, and insurance coverage consultation and litigation. His areas of experience include employment disputes, financial services disputes, as well as his background in insurance coverage and bad faith litigation. His practice has involved direct handling of litigation in Federal and State courts in California, New York, Oregon, Washington and Alaska.

Mr. Cope has published two articles: (1) The Five Most Important (and Counter-Intuitive) Rules of Insurance Coverage, Bloomberg Law Reports, Insurance Law, Vol.2, No.2, January 14, 2008; and (2) Unholy Alliance: Defending the Client on the Insurer’s Dime, White & Case California Litigation Report, September 2008. He also turned his first article into a presentation that was qualified for CLE credit in four states and was presented on several occasions.

Mr. Cope graduated from Princeton University, cum laude, in 1986. He received his J.D. from UCLA in 1994, where he served as an articles editor of the Entertainment Law Review and member of the Federal Communications Law Journal and was a member of the Moot Court Honors Board.
